16th March - National Strike

The 16th of March will be another day of national action, but with events being organised locally.  The priorities for us on this day are engagement with the public and discussions with our members.

Below are details of the plans being made by Camden NEU, including a free lunch.  Please check back for any updates prior to the day.

8:00 - 10:00

We intend to distribute leaflets to members of the public at Euston, Kings Cross, St Pancras, and Camden Town tube station.  These are major thoroughfares in our community and it is vital that we publicise the risks to our pupils, schools, and the local area if the government fail to provide a fully-funded pay rise to education staff.  We need members who are not involved in picket lines at their schools to volunteer to help with the leafleting.  Please speak with your school rep or contact the Camden NEU office.

If your school is remaining partially open on the 16th of March, and members at your school are eager to do so, we can support you to continue picket lines.  These are really important as a means of peacefully persuading colleagues not to work on a strike day and to make our campaign as visible as possible.  If you would like to organise a picket line at your school but do not have someone who has received picket supervisor training, please contact the Camden NEU office.

10:30 - 1:00

We have booked Mander Hall in Hamilton House, the national headquarters of the NEU (WC1H 9BD) and will provide a fully catered lunch.  Please be aware that due to venue capacity, this is only available to 60 members and you must reserve a spot by clicking here.

This will be an opportunity for you to catch up with friends and colleagues and to meet members from other schools.  It will also be a time when you can have your say on local and national campaigns.

We aim specifically to hold discussions on:
